DVSA earned recognition for vehicle operators is a new way to prove your organisation meets driver and vehicle standards.Roadside checks cost operators both time and money, and the DVSA want to avoid targeting safe and responsible operators unnecessarily. For this reason, the earned recognition scheme was created by DVSA.
You will regularly share performance information with DVSA and in return, your vehicles are less likely to be stopped for inspections. It’s a voluntary scheme for organisations that have had an operator licence for at least 2 years. It’s designed to work for operators of all sizes.
To join the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) earned recognition scheme for vehicle operators, your systems and processes must be audited by a DVSA-authorised audit provider. You’ll also be audited every 2 years after you’ve joined the scheme. You can choose to have your audit in person or by video call.
You will need to pay for these audits, depending on the provider you choose, providers set their own fees. As a voluntary scheme ‘Earned Recognition’ is there for the taking, however, in order to participate you will need to be operating an IT system that documents both vehicle maintenance and driver hours.
